Christopher Hitchens (my favorite reformed Trotskyite) recently wrote a controversial book on religion titled “God is Not Great; How Religeon Poisons Everything.” While I haven’t read the book, I get the feeling from reviews and the title that it won’t make my summer reading list. Regardless of my polar difference in religious views, Chris Hitchens is an amazing writer that is defined by his sarcasm and eloquence.
His brother, Peter Hitchens, is an interesting contrast to Chris. Peter has long been paleoconservative, religious, and much less controversial than his brother. In a recent Daily Mail editorial, Peter reviews Chris’ recent book.
While the editorial is long and wordy, it is worth spending 5 minutes to read. I’ll be interested to see if Chris answers.
((Don’t tell Chris Hitchens, but I think his “atheism” and “antitheism” is less rooted in belief and more driven by controversial appeal))
